Preface
Come join Salmon and his loyal companions on a journey upriver through the Rogue River Canyon!
We begin at the mouth of the river on Oregon’s South Coast near Gold Beach, where the Rogue River flows into the Pacific Ocean. Our destination is 215 miles upriver to Boundary Springs near Crater Lake, where this wild river is born.
We will walk, fly, swim, and crawl, winding our way upstream through lush forests, interior valleys, and steep rocky ravines. We will see dozens of rivers and creeks joining the flow. Around every bend we will be greeted by the plants, animals, birds, rocks, and trees who call this place home. Near Crater Lake tall mountains will appear, shaped by water, wind, and the heat of volcanoes over millions of years.
Come see how the bonds of friendship between Salmon and his fellow travelers grow stronger, as they face rapids, storms, and quaking Earth.
